How to Reignite Your Fire for God When You Feel Spiritually Numb
“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.” — Psalm 51:12
We all go through seasons when our faith feels quiet, when prayer feels heavy, worship feels distant, and we wonder if our fire has gone out. But the truth is, God never moves away from us. He’s always near, gently inviting us back into deeper intimacy.
If your spirit feels dry, here are ways to rekindle that holy fire again.
1. Return to the secret place
Your fire can’t burn without fuel. Get back into the Word, not out of duty but desire. Sit with a single verse until it stirs something in you again. Worship in silence. Let His presence rekindle what routine burned out.
2. Repent and realign
Sometimes the distance we feel isn’t absence, it’s distraction. Ask God to reveal anything that’s been dulling your flame — bitterness, busyness, or unbelief. Repentance isn’t shame, it’s a reset that brings fire back.
3. Surround yourself with believers who burn
We catch fire by proximity. Spend time with people who love God deeply, the kind who pray boldly, worship freely, and remind you of who you’re called to be.
4. Start small and stay consistent
You don’t need a mountaintop experience, you need a daily one. The small, steady moments of seeking God build a fire that lasts.
Revival doesn’t start in a crowd, it starts in a heart. Ask God to breathe again on the embers inside you. He will.
